Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of acute encephalopathy in childhood

The cardinal symptom of acute encephalopathy is impairment consciousness onset during the course an infectious disease, with duration and severity meeting defined criteria. Acute consists multiple syndromes such as necrotizing encephalopathy, biphasic seizures late reduced diffusion clinically mild encephalitis/encephalopathy reversible splenial lesion. Among these syndromes, there are both similarities differences. In 2016, Japanese Society Child Neurology published ‘Guidelines for Diagnosis Treatment Encephalopathy in Childhood’, which made recommendations comments on general aspects first half, individual latter half. Since guidelines were written Japanese, this review article describes extracts from English, order to introduce essence international clinicians researchers.
